How to Play

Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is a released TAMSOFT sequel, not a highlight reel you watch until Super Shots appear. Matches on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Steam run on stamina, position roles, and a Chain System that makes a clean buildup stronger than a hopeful blast from halfway. If you still need the pad map, read Controls first. This page is the rule set those buttons feed.

The pitch is split by role. Defenders win the ball and fill Super Move gauge. Midfielders beat markers and raise chain level. Forwards charge shots that cut keeper stamina. Playing every character like a striker is how you stall at 0-0, then concede a Break on the counter. Practice those roles in Game Modes before World Youth or Versus.

Stamina, dribbles, tackles, and Max Actions

Every flourish and every charge spends stamina. Dash on R1 / RB / R is the obvious drain, but dribble moves and tackle moves sit on the same gauge. On offense, a dribble that draws the marker in close can earn Good or Perfect and beat the line for less stamina than a panic mash. On defense, charging a tackle increases speed and power over distance. The best steal often arrives when the carrier’s gauge is already empty from dashing.

When a dribble move and a tackle move collide, the dribbler takes the tackle’s damage. Leftover gauge can still complete the beat; zero gauge gives the defender the ball. Max Dribble and Max Tackle raise that duel. They lose to nothing ordinary once they fire, but the charge window is long enough to read. When two Max Actions collide, the later activation wins. Tap first because you are nervous, and you donate the animation. Wait a beat after the opponent commits, then fire.

Hold Triangle / Y / X to charge Max. Do not treat it as a second dash. Spend it on the 1v1 that matters, then pass. A tired Tsubasa with empty stamina is just a name on a shirt.

Chain System

The Chain System is the sequel’s scoring engine. Successful dribbles, tackles, Super Moves, and pre-shot actions raise chain level. Super Pass and Super Dribble jump the meter faster than ordinary beats. Chain climbs to 10. Higher levels increase shot power and charge speed, which is how you wear a keeper down instead of gambling on the first attempt.

Losing the ball transfers chain level with possession. A turnover at level 8 is not a reset; it is a gift. That is why the systems trailer below spends time on buildup, not isolated fireballs. Delay a shot if you can still beat one more marker. Shoot immediately if you are about to lose the chain you already built.

Midfield Super Moves exist to pump chain. A Super Dribble that freezes markers and a Super Pass that blasts a shockwave around the receiver are not cosmetics. They make the eventual Super Shot harder to save.

Super Moves at every position

Super Moves are character techniques, not a second charge on shoot. Fill the Super Move gauge through dribbles, tackles, and other actions, then press the dedicated Super Move button. Most Super Moves have a windup; Super Tackles can come out faster. You cannot double-charge a generic shot into a Super Shot the way Rise of New Champions allowed.

Position decides the toolkit:

  • Super Shot: a one-button special strike, sometimes on a hard-to-read trajectory.
  • Super Aerial Shot: connects from a centering pass or Super Pass, and Super Blocks cannot stop it.
  • Super Pass: shockwave around the receiver, and it can lead into a Super Aerial Shot.
  • Super Dribble: a surge with invincibility and hitstun, limited by uses and cooldown.
  • Super Tackle: range, speed, and knockdown differ by character; a Perfect dribble can still avoid it.
  • Super Block: time slows when a shot enters range; press the button inside the window.

Equip the techniques the current character actually owns. Japan Youth stars do not share one list, and a custom player only inherits what bonds and unlocks allow. See the New Stars route if a created forward is missing a shot you expected.

Keepers, Breaks, and Miracle Actions

A shot is a duel. Shooter and keeper each pick one of six directions. A matching read is a Perfect save and barely dents keeper stamina. A wrong read, a high chain, or a Super Shot chips the bar much harder. You are trying to break a keeper over several quality attempts, not win a lottery on the first blast.

Break is the long-game rule. When shot power exceeds remaining keeper stamina, part of the stamina cap is permanently removed. Chip a fresh keeper with charged Normal Shots before you dump Super Shots into a full bar.

Miracle Saving can deny a shot even when keeper stamina is gone. Miracle Team Move is the attacking version. Both fire on conditions plus chance. Play for chain and Breaks first; treat Miracles as the extra, not the plan.

Take these rules into the Story Walkthrough and into Versus. Local split-screen, private matches, and online ranked all use the same stamina, chain, and Break logic. If you skipped Practice, return to Getting Started before you grind a rank. The player who understands turnovers beats the player who only knows the Super Move button.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for launch week on PS5, Xbox, Switch, and Steam.

How does the Chain System work in Captain Tsubasa 2?

Successful dribbles, tackles, Super Moves, and pre-shot actions raise chain level up to 10. Higher levels increase shot power and charge speed. Losing the ball transfers the chain. Practice buildup in Game Modes.

Who wins when Max Dribble and Max Tackle clash?

The later activation wins. Charge Max on Triangle / Y / X, wait if you see the opponent commit, then fire. Button names are on Controls.

How do I use a Super Move?

Fill the Super Move gauge with dribbles, tackles, and other actions, then press the dedicated Super Move button. Super Moves are not a second charge on shoot. Positions have Super Shot, Pass, Aerial, Dribble, Tackle, and Block.

What is a keeper Break?

If shot power exceeds remaining keeper stamina, part of the stamina cap is permanently removed. Wear the bar down with chain and charged shots instead of expecting every Super Shot to score.

Do Miracle Actions replace Super Moves?

No. Miracle Saving and Miracle Team Move fire on conditions plus chance. Build chain and Super Move gauge on purpose; treat Miracles as rare swings. The Story Walkthrough still expects you to win ordinary duels.

Should I learn this in Story or Versus?

Learn it in Practice, then Story. Versus — local split-screen, private matches, and online ranked — uses the same rules. Return to Getting Started if you skipped Practice.
