Goalkeeper Guide

Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is out. Japan consoles launched on 27 August 2026, and worldwide platforms, including Steam, followed on 28 August 2026. This guide is the keeper duel: six directions, stamina Breaks, Super Block, and Miracle Saving. It is not a recap of dash, pass, or Max charge. For the rest of the match engine, read How to Play. For the face-button map, open Controls.

A shot is a 1v1. Shooter and goalkeeper each pick a way. A matching dive is a Perfect save and barely dents the bar. A miss, or a high-chain Super Shot, is how gloves die. Keep the cap intact. Do not treat the first blast as a lottery.

Six-way reads and Perfect saves

After the ball leaves the boot, both sides choose one of six directions. A matching dive is a Perfect save and costs little stamina. That is the correct answer on a low-chain Normal Shot: pick the right way, take the catch, and stay whole for the next box visit.

A wrong read is expensive. Chain level, a charged Shoot Move, or a Super Shot on a miss chunks the bar much harder than a Perfect take. Do not mash the stick because a banner exploded on screen. Commit as the shooter plants. The official IGN Japan versus Thailand full match below shows real shot timing, not a dummy hanging in the air.

Practice the six-way read until it is boring. Free practice is the quiet pitch. Story qualifiers use the same duel. Versus — local split-screen, private matches, and online ranked — uses it too. On PlayStation 5, Sony’s listing requires PlayStation Plus for online play. The six directions do not change.

Keepers do not auto-win because the shirt says Wakabayashi. He is the Super Great Goalkeeper with long-range claim and Break resistance, which is why he starts against Super Shot sides. Ken Wakashimazu is the Toho alternate when you want a different Super Block set. Swap by opponent. Leaving a tired starter in because a cutscene named him is how Brazil scores the second.

Breaks: shot power versus remaining stamina

Break is the long-game rule. When shot power exceeds remaining keeper stamina, part of the stamina cap is permanently removed. The gloves do not refill to the original maximum. Chip a fresh keeper with charged Normal Shots and climbing chain before you dump Super Shots into a full bar. That is how a wall becomes a leak.

Attackers should treat the first save as planned. Defenders should treat a surviving cap as the win condition. Chain climbs to 10 and raises shot power and charge speed. A turnover hands that chain to the other side. A keeper who just made a desperate save is not safe if midfield immediately gifts the ball.

Do not empty Super Move gauge on a full bar just because the animation is loud. Wear the stamina down, then spend the special. If your keeper is already Broken, stop gambling on miracle positioning and start winning the ball higher up the pitch.

Super Block and Miracle Saving

Super Block is not the six-way dive. It is a last-ditch Super Move with a timing window. Time slows when a shot enters range; press the dedicated Super Move button inside that window. Miss the window and you spent the gauge on air. Super Aerial Shots that connect from a centering pass or Super Pass cannot be stopped by Super Block. For windups, gauges, and the rest of the toolkit, use Super Moves.

Miracle Saving can deny a shot even when keeper stamina is gone. It is rare. It fires on conditions plus chance. Play for Perfect reads, Breaks, and Super Block first. Treat Miracle Saving as the extra, not the plan. Miracle Team Move is the attacking cousin; it does not refill your gloves.

HUD banners and first-week habits

Launch players already complain that good-save and bad-save banners clutter the HUD. Stamina, chain, Max prompts, Super Move cues, and optional episode objectives stack on the same screen. A banner that celebrates a Perfect take can hide the next dive prompt. Learn the meters, then ignore the chrome. If the overlay still feels loud after a night of Practice, that complaint is also in the review.

Two habits beat any secret command. Stop diving late because the banner is pretty — pick a direction as the plant happens. Stop holding Super Block for every shot; the window is for the strike that would Break you. On defense, auto-lock still steers the nearest outfield marker. Switch only when you need that specific keeper or a Super Tackle in front of him.

Take the same habits into World Youth and Versus. A Perfect save on Thailand is the same input as a Perfect save on Brazil. The difference is chain, Super Shot power, and whether the bar is already Broken. Keep the six-way read, spend Super Block on the real threat, and never budget a match on Miracle Saving.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for launch week on PS5, Xbox, Switch, and Steam.

How does a keeper duel work in Captain Tsubasa 2?

Shooter and keeper each pick one of six directions. A matching dive is a Perfect save and costs little stamina. Pad mapping is on Controls.

What is a keeper Break?

When shot power exceeds remaining keeper stamina, part of the stamina cap is permanently removed. Wear the bar down with chain and charged shots. Full match rules sit on How to Play.

How do I Super Block a shot?

Super Block is a last-ditch Super Move. Time slows when a shot enters range; press the Super Move button inside the window. Super Aerial Shots cannot be Super Blocked. See Super Moves.

Can Miracle Saving stop a shot with no stamina left?

Yes, but it is rare. It fires on conditions plus chance. Play for Perfect reads and Breaks first. Do not plan a match around it.

Why do save banners clutter the HUD?

Good-save and bad-save banners stack on stamina, chain, and Super Move prompts. Launch players already complain about that chrome. The review logs the same fatigue.

Which Japan Youth keeper should I start?

Wakabayashi against Super Shot-heavy sides for Break resistance. Wakashimazu when you want the Toho Super Block set. Swap a tired starter; do not leave him in because a cutscene named him.
