Ver. 1.04 — all platforms (August–September 2026)
Bandai Namco released Ver. 1.04 to all platforms. The rollout completed with Xbox Series X|S on 3 September 2026. Every platform is now on the same update level for online matchmaking.
Fixes in Ver. 1.04:
- Fixed an issue where a crash would occur after some parts in the Story mode. This was a significant issue affecting players progressing through the World Youth arc.
- Fixed an issue on some teams where a GK skill could activate even when the proper activation conditions had not been met. This affected keeper duels in versus play.
- Various other stability and usability improvements.
Apply Ver. 1.04 before launching Story mode if you encountered crashes during the campaign. The patch is mandatory for online matchmaking.
| Platform | Version | Date | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|

| Xbox Series X | S | 1.04 | 3 September 2026 |

Day-one versions (27–28 August 2026)
| Platform | Version | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PlayStation 5 | 1.03 | Free update from 27 August 2026 |
| Steam | 1.03 | Free update from 28 August 2026 |
| Nintendo Switch | 1.02 | Free update from 27 August 2026 |
| Xbox Series X | S | 1.01 |
Apply the day-one patch before long Story sessions or ranked queues. Consoles need an internet connection on the console itself. Steam downloads the update through the client library entry for app 2172910.
How to confirm you are on the latest build
- PlayStation 5: highlight the game on the home screen, open the options menu, check version information after the update finishes.
- Xbox Series X|S: manage game and add-ons, confirm the update installed, note the version string.
- Nintendo Switch: open Software Update from the software’s options while online.
- Steam: library → Captain Tsubasa 2 → Properties / installed files, or simply launch after the download completes and check any in-game version string if shown.
If online matchmaking misbehaves on an old build, update first, then follow the online multiplayer checklist.
Season Pass and future updates
Do not expect Ver. 1.04 to add Season Pass characters early. Character Packs 1–3 remain scheduled through August 2027 on editions and DLC. When Bandai publishes the next numbered follow-up, it will be summarized here with the date and platform versions.
After updating, return to getting started if you have not finished first-hour setup, or to how to play and the Chain System guide if you are ready to play. PC spec doubts belong on system requirements.
